Region Choir auditions were on Saturday, October 3, and several students from our school tried out. Over 700 students auditioned for a spot in these elite choirs. Six students made it. Aida Kajs (7) made 4th chair alto, Molly Howard (7) made 12th chair alto, Amanda Lipscomb (8) made 4th chair 2nd Soprano, Haley Peeler (8) made 1st chair 1st Soprano, Hannah Peeler (8) made 3rd chair 1st Soprano and Emily Ramsey (8) made 4th chair 2nd Soprano.

“I was very happy. I knew they were prepared,” said Mrs. McCormick, choir director.

These students performed at the Georgetown ISD PAC on Saturday, November 14. The 7th graders sang Lachen und Weinen arranged by Linda Spevacek-Avery, The Mouse Madrigal arranged by Steven Porter, Johnny has Gone for a Soldier arranged by Brad Printz, and Give Us Hope arranged by Francisco J. Nunez.

The 8th graders sang Mbiri Kuna Mwari arranged by Lee R. Kesselman, Loch Lomond arranged by Vijay Singh, Cantate Domino arranged by Russell Robinson, and I Can’t Give You Anything But Love arranged by Dave Riley and Jay Althouse.

The girls had a lot of fun and even got to go out for lunch afterwards. Congratulations to each of these girls for securing a spot in these advanced choirs.

“I promised to take the top five girls out to dinner,” said Mrs. McCormick.

Aida, thank you for staying late to do the final edits. You are a natural at reporting and writing. So glad you are continuing with newspaper next year! I have big plans for launching a real online paper that looks like a catalog - you'll be able to browse the pdf version!
