Anime Art Club had its first official meeting on Tuesday, October 13, in Mr. Arthur’s room. They will meet every Friday from 3:30 to 4:00. In December the meetings moved to Tuesdays.
Anime is Japanese animated shows such as Death Note, Bleach and Naruto. Manga is a Japanese comic book read back to front that is also inclusive of the Anime art.
During the meetings, club members draw and talk about different Animes and Mangas, debate about which ones are better all while eating chocolate covered pretzel sticks called Pocky. During the school year members will watch Anime films.
Anime Art Club is run by parliamentary procedure where a president, vice president, historian, and Internet specialist are elected. Election day was October 16.
Our president, Helen (8) and vice president, Courtney (8), plan events such as meeting days, parties, contests and other creative activities. The historian, Jessica (8), takes pictures and records what we do over the year, so that we can make an end-of-the-year “yearbook” of our club. The Internet specialist, Patrick (8), designs the club’s web page and manages it during the year.
“The Game,” said club member Helen, “is often played by Anime Club members so don’t be surprised if you hear someone yell, I LOST THE GAME!, at the top of their lungs.”
Inside jokes are common among members. Only Anime junkies may understand the jokes.
If Japanese art is your interest or simply hanging out with fun, outgoing people then you should head on down to Mr. Arthur’s class every Tuesday after school. We welcome new comers from every grade.
